Nevada

A few weeks ago we decided to alter our return route and head north again to stay as close to the Canadian border and cooler temperatures as possible. News from back home had us running scared from heat and humidity. So far we have been spoiled rotten with beautiful days and sweatshirt clad evenings. I think I have worn out all my fleece!

Did I mention how welcome and safe we felt on all our military bases (army, air force, etc.) so far? Ya, "Welcome" to Fallon Naval Air Station. We arrived at 17:05 hours to this:

We actually had to call security and they sent a security officer to unlock the multiple padlocks on the entry gate. We knew this one was going to be luxury!
Jeff just giggled and said, "Oh yeah, did I mention anything about the Navy before this trip?". Ya, no he did not. Once inside we found our way to our lush Nevada campsite.

Note to self...I like the Air Force!

Picked up provisions, and yes, the kids can still just fit in these embarrassing carts! Thank God the Colonel won't run into Army buddies here.

Next we do the desert drive....And a quick night in Elko, NV before our escape to Idaho and points North.
